Options for Earning a Bachelor’s Degree Online from LSUS


Four new online bachelor’s degree programs are on offer from Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS). Each is an exciting opportunity for students who want and need the excellence of LSUS programs combined with the convenience of earning a bachelor’s degree online.

Each bachelor’s degree requires a total of 40 courses, or 120 credit hours.

An overview of each program follows.

Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication Online

The LSUS Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication online offers concentrations in public relations (PR) or journalism. Students must complete 120 credit hours, although they may receive transfer credit from courses taken at other universities. Courses will consist of 16 core credit hours, 15 credit hours in the chosen concentration and 89 credit hours in general education and other electives.

Students who earn a BA in Mass Communication online can get jobs in public relations, newswriting, editing, media research, media relations, intrapersonal and group communication, and other roles in the constantly changing media field.

Bachelor of Arts in General Studies Online

The LSUS Bachelor of Arts in General Studies online allows students to develop an individualized program that meets their goals. Students choose from three concentrations: Applied Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities.

Students will need to complete 39 credit hours in their area of concentration and 81 credit hours in general education and elective courses. Students must complete 120 credit hours to graduate, although they may receive transfer credit from courses taken at other universities.

Bachelor of Science in Management and Administration Online

LSUS offers a Bachelor of Science in Management and Administration online. It was developed to prepare students for leadership success in multiple business roles. As part of LSU Shreveport’s business school, the program provides foundational coursework in finance, economics, marketing, business law and information systems.

Students choose from three concentrations: General Management, Human Resource Management and International Business.

Students in the BS in Management and Administration online degree program need to complete 42 credit hours of business core coursework, nine credit hours of management core coursework, 12 credit hours in the chosen area of concentration and 57 credit hours of additional business, general education and other elective credit hours, for a total of 120 credit hours. Students may receive transfer credit from courses taken at other universities.

Bachelor of Science in Marketing Online

The LSUS Bachelor of Science in Marketing online provides students with the skills and knowledge to succeed in the marketing field.

The BS in Marketing online is also part of the business school. Because it is, students will be thoroughly prepared for the quantitative side of marketing through finance, business law and economics courses. They will also learn the principles of personal selling, advertising, promotions, sponsorship marketing, point-of-sale communications and branding.

Coursework will also cover the retail field, including management, layout, merchandising, pricing, personnel management and store operations.

Students with a BS in Marketing are prepared for multiple careers, including those in marketing research, product and brand management, sales, retail management, business analytics, and more.

Students need to complete 42 credit hours in core courses, 21 credit hours in a student’s chosen area of concentration (marketing or international business) and 57 additional general education and elective credit hours, for a total of 120 credit hours. Students may receive transfer credit from courses taken at other universities.

These four new online programs offer skills and training for any student, and they are affordable and convenient as well.
