Louisiana State University at Shreveport (LSUS) is offering four new online bachelor’s degree programs.
- Mass Communication Online.
- General Studies Online.
- Management and Administration Online.
- Marketing Online.
Each of these bachelor’s degrees requires a total of 120 credit hours to complete. Students may receive transfer credit from courses taken at other universities. Tuition is an affordable $283.85 per credit hour, or $851.55 per course. That means students in LSUS’s bachelor’s programs can complete their entire degree for $34,062. Please keep in mind that these costs are as of September 2017 and could change with time.
This price is very affordable for a four-year degree. In 2011, in fact, the United States Department of Education ranked LSUS one of the most affordable programs in the nation.
Students can pay tuition as they go for only the courses they enroll in, which allows them to work and earn money for each step of their education.
Affordability Enhanced by the Convenience of Online Courses
Not only are the courses affordable, but online programs enhance the affordability by allowing students to continue to work and earn as they learn. Students can complete courses whenever and wherever it is convenient. There is no need to attend a lecture at a specific time or to go to a particular building on campus. The courses and the professors, established and well-respected in their field, are as near as your computer. Professors are innovative and enterprising in their use of online education, and they are dedicated to student success.
Students who attend classes on campus often need to rearrange their work schedules, cut their work hours down to part time or cease working altogether. In addition, not all employers will allow, or are happy about, employees wanting a reduced schedule so they can attend school.
The convenience of an online program eliminates all the challenges of rearranging a schedule, working less or having to stop working altogether. Students can proceed at their own pace while continuing to work full time.
Finally, students should keep in mind all of the savings related to online programs. There are no commute costs, so no need for gasoline expenses. If students have family responsibilities, there is no need for child care or family care costs. There is no need to purchase new clothes for school — you can complete online courses in the clothes you have.
Multiple Start Dates Increase Convenience
There are also multiple start dates every year, so students can take courses at the most convenient time of the year. If you already work in marketing and know that a major campaign will be rolling out in October, for example, you can plan your program so that your course load will be lighter as your company ramps up to meet its challenge.
Transfer Credits Available
The overall amount of money required for any degree can be lower if you have prior credits to apply toward graduation. Even if you have just three transferable credit hours, or one course, it is a savings on your total tuition.
All LSUS online bachelor’s degree programs encourage students with college credits from other accredited institutions to transfer the credits as part of the 120 credit hour total required. A generous transfer credit acceptance program is in place, so students can start where they left off.
